Pune, 19th March 2023

Sagar Preet Hooda, the special commissioner of police, reached Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP’s, house to seek clarification over his remarks on sexual harassment victims during his Bharat Jodo Campaign. Rahul Gandhi was given prior notice regarding the comments he made in his speech about women facing abuse. He has been asked to provide details of the women who came to him complaining about the sexual harassment they faced. The police attempted to gather information on this since 15th March but couldn’t do so. As a result, they sent a notice to Rahul Gandhi on 16th March.

Hooda stated “We have come here to talk to him. Rahul Gandhi gave a statement in Srinagar on January 30 that during the Yatra he met several women and they told him that they have been raped. We are trying to get details from him so that justice can be given to victims.” The statement was given right outside Rahul Gandhi’s residence. The police had earlier sent a questionnaire to Rahul Gandhi seeking additional details on his claim of women coming to him complaining about gang rape.

Rahul Gandhi shared a small video of women coming to him during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Srinagar. These women had claimed to be gang-raped in the video. The police had asked for further apprehension on the video. He was also sent a questionnaire which asked for additional details on the issue. According to Delhi police, the notice was issued to the Congress leaders based on the posts on his Instagram account.
